EV MARKETPLACE:

Strohm Energy Systems is a California Electrical Contractor located in South Orange County specializing in electrical installations for residential and commercial industries. Incorporated in 2022 with a vision of installing EV chargers for the impending lucrative EV market, Strohm Energy has installed chargers in Southern California homes for over a year and a half. When you contract with Strohm, jobs will be installed there that follow the National Electric Code and permits are always pulled. The installation begins with computing what charger is recommended based on the customer vehicle’s on-board rate of charge. We will not sell you an expensive 60-amp charger if your on-board charging capacity is 28 amps. Many customers try to save money by buying an online or Costco 48-amp charger when the. You not only pay more for the charging unit but the costs snowball because the charging unit requires larger conductors, breakers, conduit, fittings, so on and so forth. Why pay more if you cannot benefit from the extra outlay.

Another mistake installers make is doing an install with an outlet so the customer can plug the cord which the car has. The 2021 NEC code changed and now requires all outlets in a garage or outside in excess of 50 volts have GFCI protection. The EV charger is not an exception and this can be pricey. Like an additional $200 more than a hardwired cable that plugs into your car like it does at a public charging station. You want to hardwire a cord, so the cord plugs into the car only to be code compliant. You only need GFCI if you plug into a receptacle off your shore power. If you have a charger installed that plugs into a receptacle, your installer did not pull a permit and you are at serious risk of an insurance claim denial should that charger fail and cause a fire.

COMMERCIAL

Strohm Energy Systems is a corporation that bids commercial projects in addition to the residential division. As previously explained, our success depends on the performance of our team as a whole. We pay our employees above what is the industry standard and expect more from them than the industry standard. We do not reward individual accomplishments, this creates issues with quality and safety, however we will encourage healthy competition between separate crews doing the same tasks.

Not only do our project management team have a part in estimating before we submit to customer, we estimate based on their time estimations. Many contractors set labor rates without the installers input and then push the crews to install atthat time. Extra steps or difficult to reach areas may cause an installation to pass budget. By having the guys with boots on the ground assist with estimations, we find they usually complete tasks within expectations. the commercial sector makes up over 60% of our business, we select projects that are geared to our skillset. T & I, Public Works Projects, City and Municipal maintenance, and County Sanitation Departments is where you may see our trucks. Our strength is the ability to man jobs with skilled labor very quickly.

We seek projects in the Southern California region. We always are looking to assist contractors out of state with our electrical force and try to find general contractors that bid a lot of local jobs. Having local residents as employees, having supply chains in the local area, and with a company wide range of diversified experience, new contractors find us able to get a job up to speed very fast. If we are not taking prevailing wage projects and re bidding in the private sector, we will look to find a few steady general contractors regularly bidding work in the local area.

We carry sufficient insurance for most projects, maintain worker’s compensation at all times, are bondable, and offer competitive rates, our customers continue to bid local work and employ local residents.
